Santos coach David Bright says he wants at least 24 points from the first round of the PSL season. Bright took over as coach at the start of the second round last year. He helped the team finish third on the log with 49 points after an ordinary start. The People's Team play Wits away in their opening match on Wednesday night.Bright says his charges are ready for the 2008/09 PSL season. "We are not preparing for the whole season. Obviously we prepare for the first round - at least to score about 24, 25 points. But I'm happy with preparations, it's rea! lly going well."
Bright says Wits coach Roger da Sa's knowledge of his former club, Santos, won't be a big advantage. "We also know his style of play, so I don't think we'll have much of a problem, although we don't know the players he has signed. I understand they've signed about ten players."
He says Wits will be found wanting if they base their tactics on the way the People's Team played last season. "He doesn't know the way we are going to approach the game, but we know him. We know how he approaches the game. But if he knows me from the last season, then probably he will be in the wrong direction."
Bright says new signing Tyren Arendse brings alot to team. "He's an experienced player from Sundowns. He played for Pirates. And also on the flank, we've got Graham King. He's also a very good player. He's got a lot of experience although he's young. But he once played for the under-23's, so he's a matured player."
